4 simple recipes you can try using kimchi

We bring you four easy recipes that you can try at home using kimchi as an ingredient.
Kimchi, a Korean fermented side dish made from fermented cabbage, has become a beloved ingredient across the world. Bursting with a unique mix of tanginess and spiciness, kimchi has the prowess to add a flavoursome punch to various dishes.
Additionally, it can be a healthy addition to one’s diet for how it supports gut health. The fermentation process produces probiotics, beneficial live bacteria and yeasts that support gut health and are also beneficial for the skin. Margot Robbie, let us tell you, also included this fermented delicacy to her diet while preparing for the role of Barbie to get that skin glowing.
How about we tell you that you can also relish Kimchi and add it to your regular meals without being a culinary expert in Korean cuisine? We bring you three easy recipes with kimchi as an ingredient:
Kimchi Fried Rice
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old rice), 1 cup kimchi, 1 small onion (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, salt and pepper and spring onions (chopped)
Instructions:
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, saute until fragrant. Add chopped kimchi and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Add cooked rice, soy sauce, sesame oil (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir-fry for another 5-7 minutes until the rice is heated through and well combined with the kimchi mixture. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
Spicy Scrambled Eggs with Kimchi
Ingredients:
4 eggs, 1 cup kimchi, 1 small onion (finely chopped), 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional), 1 tablespoon oil, salt and pepper, fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
Instructions:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and green chili, saute until onions turn translucent. Add kimchi and cook for 2-3 minutes. Beat the eggs in a bowl, then pour them into the pan with the kimchi mixture. Stir continuously until the eggs are scrambled and cooked to your desired consistency.
Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot with bread or rice.
Kimchi Stir-fried Vegetables
Ingredients:
Julienned vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, bok choy leaves, spring onion, and mushrooms), 1 cup kimchi, 2 garlic cloves (minced), 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oil, salt and pepper and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions:
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry for a few seconds until fragrant. Add the vegetables and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp. Add chopped kimchi and soy sauce. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the flavors combine.
Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve as a side dish with rice or noodles.
Kimchi Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
4 slices of bread, kimchi (chopped), 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice), butter or oil for grilling
Instructions:
Spread butter or oil on one side of each bread slice. Place one slice, buttered side down, on a heated skillet or griddle over medium heat. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top of the bread slice. Add a layer of chopped kimchi on the cheese. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the kimchi and top it with another bread slice, buttered side up. Grill the sandwich for a few minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Remove from heat, slice, and serve hot.
