Joe Biden, his deputy Kamala Harris launch re-election bid for 2024 US polls

(News Agency)-United State President Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Harris on Tuesday formally announced their 2024 re-election bid in a new video which the duo posted on their social media account.
The 80-year-old president has asked voters to give him one more chance to "finish the job", saying that his age won’t impede his ability to govern.In a video released today, Joe Biden framed next year's contest as a "fight against Republican extremism", stating that he would need more time to fully realise his vow to restore the nation's character.
"When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America. More rights or fewer," Biden says in the video. "I know what I want the answer to be and I think you do too. This is not a time to be complacent. That is why I am running for reelection," he adds.Even US Vice-President Kamala Harris shared the same video with a caption that read: "As Americans, we believe in freedom and liberty—and we believe that our democracy will only be as strong as our willingness to fight for it. That’s why @JoeBiden and I are running for reelection. Join us."Biden, who would be 86 at the end of a second term, if elected, is betting his first-term legislative achievements and over 50 years of experience in Washington to retain the presidency in a bitterly divided nation.
According to experts, Biden is likely to enjoy an easy path to his party's nomination as no major Democratic challengers are expected to challenge him.
