Government official hacked to death in Tamil Nadu



(News Agency)- A man, working as the village administrative officer in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi, was hacked to death by two men at his office on Tuesday. The victim, Lurdu Francis, lay unconscious in a pool of blood after the attack.
The villagers rescued him and took him to the Thirunelveli government hospital, where he died.
The police reached the spot and, based on investigations, detained one person.Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Rs 1 crore as compensation to the victim’s family and a government job for one family member.
“He has been working in Morappanadu village for a year and a half. Around 12:30pm, two men entered the office and attacked him. He received defensive injuries to both his arms and also deep cuts to his skull. The perpetrators absconded immediately,” the collector of Thoothukudi, Senthilraj, said.“He was immediately brought to the medical college. Within 20 minutes, he was put on ventilator support. Unfortunately, he died. He was an honest and a brave officer. He made sure that no damage happened to the government property. I’ve instructed the police to immediately file an FIR and arrest those involved,” he said.
