Police investigate motive after five people, including gunman, are killed in Midtown Manhattan office high-rise.

FIVE TOTAL DEAD: Didarul Islam, A New York City police officer and three civilians are dead after a gunman opened fire inside a high-rise corporate building in Manhattan on Monday evening. The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

SUSPECT: Shane Devon Tamura, a 27-year-old from Las Vegas, has been identified by police as the gunman. Officials say he acted alone and "has a documented mental health history." Shane worked at Caesars' Horseshoe Center Strip Las Vegas as a surveillance department employee, according to the hotel and casino company.

MOTIVE: Tamura’s motive has not been disclosed. Two officials familiar with the matter told NBC News, however, that the suspect left a note in which he wondered if "CTE," a brain disease caused by head trauma, was a possible cause of his mental illness.

LOCATION: The shooting was first reported at 6:30 p.m. and took place at 345 Park Ave., which houses several major businesses, including Blackstone, KPMG and the NFL. Tamura may have been targeting the NFL headquarters, Mayor Eric Adams said today.
