Hempstead Supervisor Donald X. Clavin Jr. is likely to step down Before November Election:
Long Island's Newsday reported on Monday, that Nassau GOP Chairman Joseph Cairo said Supervisor Donald X. Clavin Jr. is likely to step down before the election.

Nassau County Legislature John Ferretti Jr. (R-Levittown) has been officially announced as the Republican candidate for the post of Hempstead Supervisor in the upcoming election to be held in November.

After Don Clavin steps down, Republicans, with a 5-1 board majority, could appoint their nominee, Nassau Legis. John Ferretti Jr. (R-Levittown), to serve the rest of the year.

Chairman Cairo further told to the media outlet, "Whether Clavin decides to resign or not, and I think that he most likely will, there'll be a vacancy and the town board then would have the ability to appoint a successor — as they have done in the past,"

Chairman Cairo added that "Appointing the successor promotes continuity of government"
