Rakesh Patel, an Indian American Motel Owner shot dead in Pittsburgh-

Suspect Stanley Eugene West first shot his ‘female companion’ in a motel parking lot during a dispute. When Motel Manager Rakesh Ehagaban, approached him while attempting to intervene in an alleged dispute and asked, "Are you alright, bud?" , he Stanley shot Rakesh in the head.

Following the motel shooting, police tracked Stanley West to the East Hills neighbourhood of Pittsburgh, where he allegedly exchanged gunfire with officers. A Pittsburgh detective was also shot during the encounter and taken to a local hospital.

Police said suspect Stanley West, 38, shot in the back and leg, is in critical condition. He is charged with homicide, attempted homicide and recklessly endangering another person. West remained in the hospital Friday night.

Pittsburgh Police say the officer who was shot has been released from the hospital and is comfortable resting at home with his family.
