Christopher Moynihan was scheduled to appear in a local justice court today (Thursday) at 5 p.m., but his defense attorney requested, and was granted an adjournment to November 6, 2025. As per media reports, Moynihan is currently represented by the Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office.

He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, a $30,000 bond, or an $80,000 partially secured bond. Moynihan is scheduled to appear in court on October 23, 2025.
Moynihan, a Jan. 6 defendant who was among the hundreds President Donald Trump pardoned in January was arrested for making a "credible death threat" against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., the congressman said in a statement.
Charging documents show that the FBI received an anonymous tip from an individual “concerned over recent suspected narcotic abuse and an increase in the respondent’s homicidal ideations.” Moynihan allegedly said that he planned to kill Jeffries in New York City for "the future."
“Hakeem Jeffries makes a speech in a few days in NYC I cannot allow this terrorist to live," Moynihan allegedly wrote. “Even if I am hated he must be eliminated.” Jeffries spoke at a luncheon at the Economic Club of New York on Monday.
The New York State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Poughkeepsie (BCI), in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Joint Terrorism Task Force (FBI-JTTF), announced the arrest of Christopher Moynihan, 34, of Clinton, New York, for Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class D felony.
On October 18, 2025, the State Police were advised by the FBI-JTTF that Moynihan had made threats to kill a member of Congress.
Following a thorough investigation, Moynihan was arrested and arraigned before the Town of Clinton Court.
